Kobak Felvételi Előkészítő prepares children in Budapest for the Hungarian central written entrance exam — the központi írásbeli that decides admission to the country’s selective secondary schools. The rest of this site is in Hungarian, because the exam and the teaching are. These four pages are for parents who read English more comfortably: what the exam is, how admission actually works, what we run, and the questions we are asked most on the phone.
Two things worth knowing before you read on
The lessons are in Hungarian. There is no English version of the exam paper and no dictionary is allowed, so the teaching runs at the pace of a Hungarian classroom. Enquiries, enrolment and parent conversations can happen in English — the classroom cannot.
The 2026/27 dates are official. They are set by decree 1/2026. (VII. 31.) OGYM on the order of the 2026/2027 school year, published in Magyar Közlöny 2026/103. Each school still sets its own oral exam days and admission conditions in its own admissions prospectus.
Where we teach in person
Our small-group courses run at two Budapest venues — ELTE Radnóti in District XIV and II. Rákóczi Ferenc Gimnázium in District II. Addresses, timetable and teachers are on the Budapest page (in Hungarian). We rent the classrooms; the schools do not organise the course.
